Parents/caregivers and children participate in a weekly music and movement class in which young children develop rhythmic and melodic awareness, mental focus, vocabulary development, and social skills.

Skill sets that are focused on include respect for others, patience, sharing, self-control, leadership, memory skills, increased vocabulary, pitch matching, and the ability to listen.

The repertoire used in class includes traditional lullabies, action songs, and nursery rhymes from the SECE cd. Children also have weekly opportunities to hear and play musical instruments such as the glockenspiel, xylophone, drums, triangle, and shakers.

The outcomes of these activities are increased vocabulary and listening skills, increased musical sensitivity, increased socially acceptable behavior, and sensitive group participation at an early age. These skills serve as an excellent preparation for involvement in other social and academic environments- school settings, music lessons of any kind, as well as membership in other activities.
